The term talent is connoted very differently between scientific disciplines. In some cases research on giftedness presumes giftedness as a genetic precondition for talent development. Despite multifactor models, intelligence is still the center of focus in research on giftedness. Personnel psychology has a contradicting view on talent. It defines talent as a profession-based ability, which can vary between different professions and organizations. Talent therefore is not determined by genetic preconditions, but a conglomerate of multiple personality traits. Talent can therefore be fostered through the active process of emotionally competent talent management.
